Acquisition loan snapshots

Pick an industry and a state. Ownerbound shows how many SBA 7(a) loans labeled change of ownership were approved there, and how big they were.

We count loans that the SBA 7(a) file labels Change of Ownership. Cancelled loans are removed.

These are loans the SBA approved. Most were paid out. About 6% were approved but not yet paid out, and about 10% are credit lines. Cash deals, seller-note deals and bank deals do not appear.

The numbers describe past loans. They do not predict what any buyer will pay, borrow or earn.

SBA changed industry codes in 2022. The same industry can appear under an old code (loans to FY2022) and a new code (loans from FY2022). Each page shows only its own code, so neither shows the full history.

How to read a snapshot

Ownerbound hides any cell with fewer than 10 loans. It shows a charge-off rate only with 30 or more seasoned loans. This protects small business owners in the public file.
